Super Roof Kleen 55 Gal Kit
This roof washing kit makes 55 gallons of concentrated roof cleaner, which is enough to clean about 20 average asphalt or tile roofs when used with cold water machines, and even more when used with a hot water machine.
Once you have made the 55-gallons of concentrate, you can apply this at between 4:1 and 15:1. You can clean between 40,000 and 130,000 square feet of roof area - depending on the severity of the soil and whether or not you are using hot water. Adjust your mix to job conditions.
The formula is balanced to be strong enough to attack roof algae and roof stains while being as gentle as possible on the surface. Roof washing should be done with moderate cleaners, gentle agitation, and low pressure. This roof cleaner rinses free at any temperature. Contains sodium hydroxide.
COSTS LESS THAN $7 FOR EACH ROOF WASHING!
There has been significant interest in roof washing lately, including a lot of questions about what to use to when washing off those black streaks and stains (mold algae also known as 'gloeocapsa magma'). These roof stains will significantly affect the look of any home. In the past, the only way to get rid of them was to replace the roof. It has been estimated that as much as 50% of all roof replacements have been done because of the appearance of these roof stains and not actually because of a roof's functionality.
These roof stains are impossible to remove without the aid of chemical cleaners. Caustics are inexpensive and very effective for killing mold like gloeocapsa magma.
When Sun Brite Services used to wash roofs for customers, we used the following method: First, using an X-Jet, we wet the roof slightly to cool it down. Second, we apply QwicClean’s Super Roof Kleen to the shingles, from the ground, using an X-Jet. We allow the roof cleaner to work for about 15 minutes before we begin power washing. (Note: Roof Brite costs as little as 70 cents per gallon, which is less expensive than bleach!)
Walking gently on the roof, we wash using very light pressure – about 300 PSI. We are very careful to avoid knocking off gravel from the surface of the roof shingles. When we meet up with a tough stain area, we use a very soft scrub brush with a 5’ handle and gently scrub this area. Finally, we rinse the surface well. Rinsing can be done from the ground using your X-Jet again.
Steep roofs require special gear to prevent falls. After all, a good roof cleaner can make any surface pretty slippery. A chicken ladder along and a rope harness is one way to make it safer to move around the roof.
Be very fussy on the street side of the roof to remove all stains. Remember that excessive agitation affects the life of the roof. Your customer may approve of not scrubbing that (less visible) back-side of the roof quite as much. Homeowners are usually looking for “curb appeal”, so spend the most time and energy where it counts the most - on the street side of the roof.
Once the roof washing is done, there are two other services we offered our roof washing customers. For an additional fee, we treated their roof with Bio Barrier, a special formulation from QwicClean that prevents new algae spores from sticking to that clean roof. Instead, the spores move on to the neighbor’s roof where they grow, turn black, and create future roof washing jobs.
For another charge we will clean the gutters (inside and out). Being careful not to get any roof cleaners or other cleaners on the house paint (to avoid streaky clean spots) we scoop and rinse out the gutters and clean the outside surface with Gutter Zap. This can be done from the ground with an X-Jet or it can be done by wiping the gutter surface with a rag (and Gutter Zap). Add roof washing to your services today and make more profit!
